In a military headquarters, it is surprising to encounter such a question. Yet, it was the opening question posed at the fifth Defence Women’s Health Conference (April 2024), which focused on Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) and deployed role 1. This year’s event welcomed a record attendance of 180 service persons (8.9% male). Among the Defence Medical Services clinicians eligible to attend,1 there was a significant difference (p<0.001) between 1.6% (95% CI 0.8% to 2.4%) of males and 13.4% (95% CI 11.5% to 15.3%) of females attending (Figure 1).
